In Denmark, Torben , has preregistered a WOW event for 2024. He is a captain in the Danish defence and a volunteer in the Danish Home Guard, North Jutland district. He has an education as an orienteering coach and course setter and he runs orienteering races himself when the time is right. But mostly he organise races.
In May 2024 he will organise an WOW event which will be an event organised for all employees, volunteers in the local home guard and veterans in two parts.
Part 1 is held as a sprint at Aalborg Barracks over several days, where everyone is encouraged to get out and run or walk. Aalborg Barracks are closed to civilian runners.
Part 2 is run as a traditional orienteering race in Tornby Klitplantage (a local forest in North Jutland), where everyone is encouraged to take a walk or run in the forest. The race is only for all employees, volunteers in the local home guard and veterans.
I have previously done (before Corona) WOD events and think it is a great concept 🙂
The most important reason for participation is to get the staff out and about in a pressurised environment, giving them a great experience in an area they already know.
A WOW event provides this opportunity.
Once the event is completed, they receive a WOW diploma for their participation.
