WOW – a chance to entice newcomers to orienteering

The club Southern Highlands Orienteering or SHOO as it is affectionately known was formed in 1986.

Southern Highlands Orienteering promotes Orienteering in the Macarthur and Liverpool area of Sydney as well as the Southern Highlands.

The club hosts both urban and bush events.

One series that is held is the Highland Forest Series (HFS). This series encourages a transition from the street / park style orienteering to the bush.

The courses range from easy ( following paths and fences etc) to hard requiring detailed compass and cross -country navigation.

The second event in the series will be held on May 26th as part of World Orienteering Week.

It will be held on the Mount Alexandra Map at Welby via Mittagong about an hour to an hour and a half outside of Sydney.

By holding the event as part of this week the club hopes to entice newcomers to orienteering as well as those who have only done Street style Orienteering offering a different experience.

Every event counts!
