World Orienteering Week partner OCAD improves Route Analyzer

WOW-partner OCAD, that specializes in software development for the production of maps, has extended its Route Analyzer and made it accessible for forest orienteering. Thanks to the consideration of runnability and relief, the Route Analyzer 2.0 can find the fastest routes between two controls in urban as well as in classic forest terrain.

The first version of the tool is limited to 2D sprint maps because it assumes a constant speed and only distinguishes between passable and impassable map objects. With the 2023 World Championships and SOW in Flims Laax in mind, OCAD set about developing Route Analyzer 2.0, which no longer looks for the shortest route, but the fastest and can therefore be used in all kinds of orienteering terrain.
