The first registered World Orienteering Day 2022 event will take place in conjuction with the French Universitary Championships. The event will take place in Epinal, in the Vosges, on May, 14th and 15th, 2022.
On Saturday will be a mixed relay sprint, in the city of Epinal.
On Sunday will be an individual long distance, in the forest of “Olima”.
Both events will be organized by the club “Loisirs Orientation Sanchey” and the Universitary Sport League of the region “Grand Est”.
The idea from the organiser is to invite a few elementary and high schools of Epinal, to share the event, and make links between the young students, from schools and the students from the University.
One challenge for the organiser is that they now need to define how the young students could participate in the events. Christophe Goutaudier, one of the organiser says;
“Of course they will run, but we have to decide how we will adapt the race to suite everyone“.
