During World Orienteering Week this year an exhilarating 3 km orienteering adventure in the breathtaking Sacred Valley of Cusco, nestled in the charming village of Arin will be organised. Set at an altitude of 3,000 meters, this event promises not only a physical challenge but also a feast for the eyes with its stunning scenic backdrop.

The organiser of the event is Fraser, an orienteer from New Zealand that have been doing orienteering all his life, since he was a young boy. He competed in JWOC 1996, 1997 and 1998.
In 2019 he moved to Peru and since 2023 he have been living in the Sacred Valley of Cusco, Peru.
To make the most of World Orienteering Week Fraser have created a map of one of the local villages and will hold the first event there. Frease says that it will be tough with the map reaching 3,000 meters but the locals will be used to the altitude.

The orienteering course is designed to welcome participants of all ages and experience levels, making it perfect for families and individuals alike who are eager to try something new. During the event, participants will be equipped with a detailed map marked with control points. Using your navigation skills, you will traverse the roads and trails of Arin, visiting each control point in sequence. The goal is to complete the course in the shortest time possible, offering a thrilling way to enjoy the outdoors, challenge yourself, and enhance your navigational abilities. Whether you are training for an adventure race or seeking a fun family activity, this event guarantees an exciting and rewarding experience for everyone involved.
At last Fraser would like to invite all that passing by, “Most tourists visiting Machu Picchu travel through the valley on the way. So if any orienteers are passing through they are welcome to get in touch!”
Every event counts!
