The situation with the pandemic seems to be very different in each country and location making it difficult to plan a truly global project. As we emerge from this global pandemic there is a need for flexibility. We know that activities like World Orienteering Day can be important markers and have a positive influence on the return to a more normal situation.

World Orienteering Day is all about increasing the visibility and accessibility of orienteering to young people, increasing the number of participants both in schools’ activities, as well as in clubs’ activities in all countries of IOF Member Federations. It is also about helping teachers to implement orienteering in a fun and educational way and to get more new countries to take part in orienteering. You are many around the world giving those new to orienteering the possibility to try our amazing sport!

With this taken into consideration the IOF have taken the decision to give as many young people the chance to practice orienteering by having two registration periods, in other words, World Orienteering Day 2021 events may be registered and organised in the period May 19 – 25 or September 8 – 14, as the pandemic situation in your country allows.

You can preregister your WOD event at World Orienteering Day .

In case of question please send an email to wod(@)orienteering.sport

Be part of something bigger – Colour the world!

The reaction to the announcement that World Orienteering Day 2021 would be postponed from May to September was huge.
