Argentina have a 10-year plan

Gisela Reynoso, director or Orienteering Argentina, have a plan for devlopment of orienteering in Argentina.

Gisela started to work togheter with I’m working ince 2006 with Lorena Kleinnman in 2006 and when she moved to USA, Gisela continue working but not so successfully. They were making races, people go to run, but every year they could not increase the number of participants.

So, in 2017 Gisela decided to work hard in a project to develop the sport in the schools. Between 2017 to 2020 she started to study about Orienteering skills to teach in schools. She participted in webinars with differents Federations, like Ireland, England, USA and IOF Webinars too, and with all of the information she began to design the project “Orienteering in The school”. During this time Gisela togheter with Lorena wrote a Book about Orienteering sport (First book in spanish written in South America) and she started to work to make the development of the sport using all opportunities that the pandemic give them (SPorts Congress, Meetings of PE Teachers, National Programs about Virtual sports, etc).

In 2017 100 kids participated in Orienteering Games event.

During 2018 130 kids participated in Orienteering Games.

2019, 210 Kids and Youngers of High school participated of the First Orienteering maze race in the German Association club.

In 2020 and 2021 they collaborated with the Argentine Confederation of sports & the Confederation of Trendings sport to make Virtual Orienteering Games with kids at home, and offering conferences for teachers.

2021 was the first year that we participate officially in World Orienteering Day with 633 participants from 5 states in 17 locations of Argentina.

In 2022, their second year of particpation in World Orienteering Day 1489 people participated.

During 2023 they had 1493 participants during World Orienteering Day and 619 in the WMR 2023.

They have a 10 years plan that they work towards and feel comfortable to reach the goals. Gisela have contact with IOF Global Development Commission member, Ronaldo Catelo Santos.
